MS in Project Management

For professionals who wish to master project and program management on their own schedule, Boston University's (BU) master’s degree in Project Management (MSPM) serves as a comprehensive introduction to the world of project management. While learning the tools and techniques required to monitor and track project costs and schedules, students develop the ability to manage project resources and communications and complete a successful project. The program covers both introductory and advanced knowledge and provides the skills necessary to manage a complex project within a specific timeframe and budget.

Online, Convenient, Flexible

The MSPM online program consists of 12 courses for a total of 48 credits. The program can be completed in two years. You will take two seven-week courses per semester, focusing on one course at a time. This course delivery method is specifically designed for working professionals like you to make the most efficient use of your time and to optimize your learning experience.

You can start the program six times per year in spring, summer, or fall.

Graduate Certificate in Project Management

Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Project Management, students may apply their courses toward the requirements for one of our PMI® accredited programs.

The Boston University Metropolitan College Graduate Certificate in Project Management is an opportunity to study alongside motivated professionals as you master the tools and techniques to help you deliver solutions on time and within budget—and to achieve the career advancement you seek in today's competitive project management environment.

Under the guidance of distinguished faculty, you will examine detailed case studies, conduct project simulations, and gain both theoretical and practical expertise in:
  • Project planning and control
  • Project management life cycle
  • Methodologies of effective leadership and motivation
  • Essential project management tools and techniques
  • Cost-management and risk management
  • Project quality management and procurement management
Successful graduates will be prepared to move forward in a wide variety of project management related careers, and will have gained excellent preparation for PMP® Certification from the Project Management Institute.

The Graduate Certificate in Project Management consists of four courses that can be completed in nine months of study.

Students interested in further study may transfer credits earned for the Certificate directly to the degree requirements for the Boston University Master of Science in Project Management.
